After 5 years of work and negotiations, the States Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (the Ospar Convention) have validated the inclusion of the kelp forest habitat and the Haploops habitat in the Ospar list created in 2008.
This collective mobilization sets an example of coordination of scientific expertise to support decision-making and the implementation of public environmental conservation policies. This is the first time that the list has been reopened since its creation in 2008: it represents a great step forward for the conservation of marine habitats.
