In 2020 in Houston, Veronica “Roni” Cabrera-Moreno, an artist and creative educator, decided to open her art studio… in a bus! In this way, she allows the most disadvantaged to have access to art.
A lifelong artist, Veronica “Roni” Cabrera-Moreno, mother of four, decided to work to make art accessible to all. Roni has noticed a disparity in access to the arts, whether it’s getting supplies, gaining visibility, or receiving art training. Not to mention the social barriers. To this end, she salvaged an old school bus and transformed it into a real art studio, in order to democratise access to artistic creation. Roni’s mission with her bus is to make art accessible to everyone and to share her vision of art.
Bringing people together through art
According to her conception of art, it must work to create links between people, regardless of generation or origin: “art has the power to break down all borders to bring people together”. Making art her vocation is not an easy thing to do, but it is also what has allowed this artist to build herself and make it a strength. She is determined to make Houston a place rich in artistic possibilities and inspiration.
